What is datakumi

datakumi is where the lists your business shares are edited, checked, approved and published. This guide takes you from nothing to a published dataset you can read from code.

Master data is the shared lists other data refers to: products, customers, suppliers, accounts, locations and code lists. datakumi gives each list an owner, rules and an approval step.

  • Business users edit in a grid they already know. Changes stay in a private draft until they are published.
  • Rules check every value: keys, required fields, allowed values and duplicates.
  • Approvals route a change to the right people. Nobody approves their own change.
  • Data teams read the result as a Delta table in your own storage, with every version kept.

It runs as one container, a PostgreSQL database and your object storage (Amazon S3, Azure, Google Cloud or the bundled MinIO). Nothing is held anywhere else.
